History & Technological Heritage
NeoScan was founded by Dr. Alexander Sasov, one of the world’s most influential pioneers in X-ray microtomography. His work in micro-CT began in 1980 as part of his doctoral research, defended in 1983, marking the beginning of more than four decades of continuous innovation in non-destructive 3D X-ray imaging.
Throughout the following years, Dr. Sasov played a key role in the scientific maturation and practical adoption of micro-CT technology, authoring numerous publications, including a landmark 24-page review in the Journal of Microscopy (1987). In 1993, he installed the first micro-CT system at the University of Reims (France), representing a major milestone in the field.
In 1996, Dr. Sasov co-founded SkyScan in Belgium, acting as CEO and lead designer of all SkyScan micro-CT instruments. Through continuous innovation, SkyScan became the world’s leading supplier of micro-CT systems. In 2012, the company was acquired by Bruker and rebranded as Bruker Micro-CT.
To accelerate innovation and reduce time-to-market, Dr. Sasov founded NeoScan in 2019, bringing together four decades of expertise into a new generation of high-end, compact and highly “personal” desktop micro-CT systems. NeoScan aims to transform 3D microscopy in the same way personal computers reshaped technology decades ago.
