A unique single-program combustion sequence ensures:

  • Soot-free, complete pyrolysis, even for complex matrices
  • Stable combustion for both halogen and sulfur analysis
  • No need to adjust the combustion program for different sample types

🎯 4. Improved Lower Detection Limits

  • High-sensitivity coulometric titration
  • Detection down to ppm levels
  • Suitable for trace contaminant monitoring and regulatory compliance

🧪 Measurement Principles

Chlorine Analysis – Coulometric Silver Titration

Samples combust in an Argon/Oxygen atmosphere.

Released chloride is transported to the titration cell and titrated automatically using coulometrically generated Ag⁺ ions.

Reactions:

HCl + Ag⁺ → H⁺ + AgCl (titration)

Ag → Ag⁺ + e⁻ (electrolysis)

Chlorine concentration is calculated from the electrical charge required for titration.

Sulfur Analysis – Coulometric Triiodide Titration

Combustion converts sulfur compounds to SO₂, which is introduced into a titration cell where I₃⁻ ions are used for automatic titration.

Reactions:

SO₂ + I₃⁻ → SO₃ + 2H⁺ + 3I⁻ (titration)

3I⁻ → I₃⁻ + 2e⁻ (electrolysis)

Sulfur concentration is determined from the required coulometric charge.
