Fourier Transform NMR

The ECZ Luminous™ (JNM-ECZL series) is JEOL’s latest innovation in Fourier Transform Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (FT-NMR) spectroscopy, integrating advanced digital and high-frequency technologies to deliver unparalleled performance in a compact design.

Smart Transceiver System (STS): At the heart of the ECZ Luminous™ is the STS, a highly integrated digital high-frequency control circuit. This system consolidates the sequencer, Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS), Frequency Synthesizer Unit (FSU), transmitter, receiver, acquisition unit, and gate control unit onto a single RF transmitter/receiver board. Such integration enhances reliability and facilitates further miniaturization of the spectrometer.

Multi Frequency Drive System (MFDS): Expanding on JEOL’s innovative design concepts, the MFDS allows for multiple resonance measurements using triple-resonance probes like HCN and HCX on a standard two-channel spectrometer. This capability enables complex multi-nuclei experiments without the need for extensive hardware expansion, making advanced NMR techniques more accessible.

Highly Precise Digital Control: The ECZ Luminous™ features a sequencer capable of rapid control over frequency, phase, and amplitude modulation with a minimum time resolution of 5 nanoseconds. Equipped with a digital quadrature detection (DQD) circuit, it supports dynamic frequency and phase modulation in both transmitter and receiver systems, facilitating sophisticated signal processing essential for cutting-edge solid-state NMR measurements.

Wide Dynamic Range: Utilizing 16-bit 100Msps high-speed A/D conversion and DQD technology, the ECZ Luminous™ achieves an exceptional dynamic range. This allows for the clear detection of small NMR signals even in the presence of dominant signals, ensuring accurate and quantitative spectral analysis.

Low-Noise Preamplifiers: The incorporation of newly developed low-noise preamplifiers enhances sensitivity. When paired with JEOL’s ROYALPROBE™ or ROYALPROBE™ HFX, users can experience a sensitivity improvement of approximately 10%, facilitating the detection of subtle spectral features.

Digital Lock Circuit for Stability: Employing STS technology, the ECZ Luminous™ offers high-speed, high-precision digital control over the deuterium (²H) lock. This advanced feedback mechanism effectively mitigates magnetic field fluctuations, ensuring stable and prolonged measurement sessions crucial for long-term experiments.

Compact Design with Versatile Configurations: Despite its advanced capabilities, the ECZ Luminous™ boasts a significantly reduced footprint. For instance, the R series occupies approximately one-third the volume of its predecessors. The product line includes:​

  • ECZL G Series: Flagship model supporting frequencies from 400 MHz to 1.3 GHz, expandable beyond three channels, and accommodating high-power amplifiers and magnetic field gradients.
  • ECZL R Series: High-performance instrument compatible with 400 to 600 MHz frequencies, capable of solid-state NMR measurements, and featuring a footprint less than half that of previous models.
  • ECZL S Series: Entry-level model dedicated to 400 MHz solution-state NMR, offering the same high-performance digital technology in a streamlined configuration ideal for routine analyses.

Remote Access and Automation: The ECZ Luminous™ supports remote access from any networked computer, allowing multiple operators to engage simultaneously without interference. When integrated with an automatic sample changer, the system facilitates continuous, automated measurements for both solution and solid-state NMR applications, enhancing laboratory efficiency and throughput.
